The Shotgun is a weapon that falls within the shotgun category in Splitgate: Arena Warfare.

Summary[edit | edit source]

The Shotgun is a pump-action, futuristic shotgun with an internal capacity of 4 shells. When fired, the weapon shoots 8 hitscan projectiles in a frontal cone in the direction the weapon is pointed. The very high damage per pellet means that only 4 out of the 8 projectiles need to connect in order to confirm a kill. This makes the Shotgun extremely deadly up close, as any target within a 5-10m radius of the user is able to be instantly killed by a single trigger pull (aim permitting). However, the aggressive spread and damage drop-off make this weapon effectively useless when dealing with opponents at a further distance.

Another notable feature of the Shotgun is the lack of an ability to aim down sights, meaning that it must be hip-fired at all times. This makes it the third weapon in the game to do so (alongside the SMG and the Plasma Rifle). However, the short range nature of this weapon means that this is not a major hindrance to the effectiveness of this formidable weapon.
